To make the skirt, you will need-
MATERIALS
US Q/15.75mm crochet hook
Approximately 750/950/1200 yards of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick – “Fisherman”
Five/six/seven buttons (minimum 1.25 inch diameter)
GAUGE
5 sts = 4”
4 rows = 4”
FINISHED SIZE
42”/50”/58”

US Crochet Terms Used
ch – Chain
st/sts – Stitch/Stitches
sl st – Slip Stitch
dc – Double Crochet
dcFLO – Double Crochet Front Loop Only
SIZES
There are 3 sizes included in the tree skirt: 42”, 50”, and 58” in diameter.
Depending on the size of your tree determines what size to make.
As a rough estimate, I usually make the 42” skirt for trees 4.5’-6.5’. For trees 6.5’-8.5’ I will make the 50” skirt, and for trees larger than 8.5’ I make the 58” skirt. You can make the tree skirt bigger than 58” if you continue increasing in the same pattern.

Tree skirts are my favorite crochet piece to make.

Hello! I’m having issues with this tree skirt. I’ve completed up to Row 22, and I want to go larger, but when I laid out what I’ve completed so far, it doesn’t look right.
My “pizza slice” gap is way too big. Mine looks more like 3 “pizza slices” were taken out. I’ve followed the pattern precisely, using a Q (15.75mm) size hook, and being absolutely sure that my slip stitch rows are very loose.
The only difference I can see is that I’m not using the same exact yarn that you used in the video. I’m using Bernat Softee Chunky, which is still a 6 weight yarn, so I’m not sure what exactly I’m doing wrong.
I’m trying to complete two of these 58″ tree skirts before the end of this month (Nov). One is for my Christmas tree, and I’d like to gift the other one to my sister before she gets her tree put up, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry you are having trouble with that! My guess is that you will need to go up to a larger hook size. Were you able to meet gauge?
