One of my goals for 2021 is to bring more FREE patterns to my blog, so let’s kick off the new year with a new free crochet pattern!
Today I’m sharing the Tic Tac Toe on the Go – Valentine’s Day crochet pattern.
DESCRIPTION
This crochet Valentine’s Day game board was born because I was trying to find a quick crochet piece that could be given at school Valentine’s Day parties.
I didn’t want to send my kids with candy or food to hand out at their school parties because it seems like it is more and more common for kids to have allergies to nuts, dairy, gluten, etc. I didn’t want any of my kids’ friends to feel left out because they had an allergy, so I decided no food, but I still wanted it to be homemade.
I knew I would need to design something that wasn’t too big, was quick to make, and would be fun for the kids. In talking this over with Mr. Nooks, he had the idea of making a tic tac toe game board, so I have to give credit to Mr. Nooks for brainstorming this design up. (Should I pay him a salary? 😉
The game pieces (or x’s and o’s) are crochet hearts made in 2 different colors, and they are stored inside the bag. The front of the bag has a tic tac toe board sewn on, so everything can be played and stored in one spot to help minimize lost pieces (anyone else’s kids lose EVERYTHING?)
This has been a hit with my kids and their friends, and you want to know the best part?
It only takes 25 minutes to make!
DIFFICULTY
This Tic Tac Toe on the Go Valentine’s Day pattern is really beginner friendly! To make the board you make 2 squares, sew the tic tac toe design onto one of the squares, and seam the squares together on 3 sides to make the bag.
To make the game pieces you make simple, quick hearts.

What a sweet pattern! I’m not very good at crochet, but I’m going to try this. It will be a great kids’ gift (if I can part with it). LOL
Cute idea!! Thanks for sharing!
