Taylor Swift Knit Pattern – Free Knit Taylor’s Version Pillow

Looking for a fun Taylor Swift knit pattern for yourself or to gift to that Taylor Swift fan?

I designed the

The Taylor’s Version Pillow Knit

to commemorate the Era’s Tour and the release of Taylor’s Version albums.

DESCRIPTION

This Taylor Swift Knit Pattern is a nod to Taylor Swift’s choice to re-record some of her albums so she could own the rights. Swifties stood behind her decision and repurchased her albums to show their loyalty to Taylor Swift’s choice to branch out and own her songs.

Because of her strong following, Swifties have declared that they only listen to Taylor’s version of the albums to show their support.

I love Taylor Swift, so I designed this pattern to state the rules in my home when one enters.

Just kidding, but I do love Taylor Swift.

And I do only listen to Taylor’s Version.

After designing the crochet sister pillow, I knew that I had to make a knit pillow pattern as well.

So that I could choose another Era-inspired color, but also to make a knit Taylor Swift pattern for all my knitters friends also.

THE YARN

For this crochet pattern, I used #4 worsted yarn. I chose Mandala Ombre in the color Chi because I wanted to base it off of my second favorite album, which is Speak Now.

I felt like this yarn was the closest to the colors seen in the album color.

The purple ombre found in Chi that blends beautifully together looks very similar to the Speak Now album.

The letters are done in white, with the “Taylor’s” done in a bright yellow.

Both inspired by the album coloring.

If you make it in another era-inspired color, be sure to tag me, because I love seeing all the different colors and eras!

DIFFICULTY

The Taylor’s Version Pillow is considered intermediate knit because of the stranded knitting techniques used.

Do not be intimidated by stranded knitting, though! I also included instructions for duplicate stitch if you do not want to juggle multiple colors at one time. You can choose either was you are comfortable with.

It is only made up of stockinette stitch. Managing the color changes is what makes it intermediate, but I have a full video tutorial to help.

You can view the full video at the bottom of the post or here.

 NOTES

  • There is a digital chart to mark your progress here & here.
  • The pillow is worked in stockinette stitch from the bottom up in 2 separate pieces and seamed together.
  • Each row of the chart alternates between right to left/left to right. The right-hand side of the chart has odd numbers (RS) and the left side has even numbers (WS).
  • Every block of the chart represents 1 st.
  • The pattern is written to either use intarsia/stranded knitting (carrying yarn) or duplicate stitch (embroidery for knitting) techniques for the chart portion. Choose which method you prefer, but both do not need to be done.
  • If using intarsia/stranded, you will carry floats in some areas; do not carry your yarn for more than 4-5 stitches and make sure you alternate where you pick up your floats so you do not have a line of contrasting color showing through.
  • If using duplicate stitch, panels need to be steam blocked before duplicate stitch is done.

Row 85: k BO all sts

DUPLICATE STITCH

Step 1: Cut a length of yarn and thread your tapestry needle. Count to where your first st will be worked (you may want to use marking pins every 10 sts on your knit piece to create a corresponding graph).

Step 2: insert needle from back to front by coming through the bottom of the “v” point of the first knit duplicated st. Leave approx 3.5″ tail.

Step 3: Following the st, slide the needle through both “arms” of the st above.

Step 4: Insert needle back into the point of the “v” worked in Step 2.

Step 5: Following chart, work across length of row back and forth from bottom to top.

Step 6: Leave 3.5″ tail on WS and cut yarn. Don’t weave in. Triple knot yarn to another tail and cut tails.
