Looking for an summer shawl that is light, airy and a perfect knit for the season?

The Sunset Breeze Wrap is an easy knit pattern made with beginners in mind. Featuring light, airy fabric and colorful stripes it looks like a summer sunset. Worked in the round using simple stitches, this lightweight wrap is perfect for chilly evenings or breezy beach walks. Video aids are included—making it a relaxing knit for all skill levels.

It is worked from the top-down, with no seaming, so it’s perfect to try on as you go, which is ideal for beginners.

A jogless stripe video is included so that the stripes can be made with a clean transition between colors.

DESCRIPTION

The Sunset Breeze Wrap was inspired by beautiful summer sunsets. I imagine wearing this on the beach boardwalk after the sun has gone down, and the nights have gotten chillier.

Easy to carry in a purse and throw on over a dress, tee, or tank. Can be dressed up or down and is so versatile.

The Sunset Breeze Wrap is made from the top down, and can be tried on as you go for the shaping you want. A smaller needle size is used to begin for the cone shaping and hem.

A 2×2 ribbing is used on both the to and bottom hem. 4 colors are used in the knit shawl, alternating 3 main colors with white knit lace in between the stripes.

Simple shaping and stitches are used in the knit pattern, so great to relax and stitch with minimal concentration. The “lace work” is just a knit 2 together and yarn over, so it looks lace-like without the complicated steps.

This knit wrap uses cotton yarn making it a great layering piece for summer.

YARN

This was my second time working with Made With Love – The Cottony One yarn, and I loved it just as much as the first!

(Psst, have you check out my Cordelia Tie Vest yet? Another one of my free summer knit patterns, and it uses this yarn, too.)

A good cotton yarn can be hard to find in my opinion, and Made with Love yarn does an excellent job blending cotton and softness.

It is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic, so it is a soft, but sturdy blend. It is machine wash and dryable, so it is a practical yarn to use for garments.

185 yards comes in a 3.5 oz skein, and there are 17 different colors in the yarn line.

I used 80 yards of “Robbie Red”, 110 yards of “Lychee White”, 95 yards of “Gold Medal”, and 90 yards of “Summer Sun Yellow” for the Medium size sample of Sunset Breeze Wrap I made.

DIFFICULTY

The Sunset Breeze Wrap is considered an Easy Level or Beginner+ knit pattern, but it is good for all skill levels.

There is no seaming for this wrap, which is really nice.

It is made top-down, so you can try the wrap on as you go, which is always a bonus to get the right fit.

I have a supplemental video, to help you make clean stripes in the round. It is called the Jogless Stripe Method.

So go ahead and cozy up with a blanket while watching the tutorial.

Need ideas of what blanket to cozy up with? Here are some blanket ideas to make! And most of them are free patterns on my blog.

And if you are looking for some fresh, modern knits to make this Summer, I just released two more this week in addition to this one.

They are all free patterns on my blog, and they are all rated Easy, so you can relax by the pool while stitching. I gotchu.
