Happy first day of fall!
Fall is, by far, my favorite season. I love the coziness, and I love that I can drink my daily hot chocolate without getting confusing glances from my family because it is “too hot to drink hot chocolate”.
Plus, I feel like crochet becomes that much easier to do. Fall just puts me in the mood to bundle up and crochet. I love it.
So have you decorated for Fall yet? I’ve got the perfect autumn decoration for you – The Halloween Leaf Welcome Pillow!
Yes, it is double-sided so it cuts down on the storage. Display the Halloween witch hat side until November 1, and then turn the pillow around for the fall leaf side!
This pattern is part of my Welcome Pillow series. If you haven’t seen the other double-sided patterns, you can find them HERE.
DESCRIPTION
The Halloween Leaf Welcome Pillow uses a combination of intarsia and tapestry crochet techniques. The 2 panels are made individually and then seamed together, leaving one side of the rectangle open. A pillow form is inserted, and the last side is stitched up.
THE YARN
For this pillow, I used #4 worsted weight yarn. I chose I Love this Yarn from Hobby Lobby in the colors “Grey Mist”, “Black”, “Mixed Berry”, “Yellow”, “Brown”, and “Burnt Orange”.
I have found that “I Love this Yarn” is a bit thicker than most weight 4 yarns, so make sure you check the gauge if you use a substitute yarn.
DIFFICULTY
This pillow is considered an intermediate pattern because of the multiple colors.
I did tapestry crochet for nearly the whole pillow. I had two bobbins of black on either side of the witch hat/leaf and carried the black throughout the words. I also only had one strand of my main color and carried that throughout the project.

Hi Rachel,
The back panel is no longer available at Clover (boo-hoo!). Your link above is dead (error code 404)

Sorry about that! Just fixed the link, so you should be able to see that now. 🙂
