I can always add more pumpkin decor to my house, so that’s why this Fall Welcome Pillow is the perfect new addition!
The ‘o’ in Welcome is in the shape of a pumpkin, and I’m loving how it turned out!
Best part of the pillow? It is 2-sided, so the back of the pillow features “Welcome” with the ‘o’ in the shape of a snowflake!

DESCRIPTION
The Fall Welcome Pillow uses a combination of intarsia and tapestry crochet techniques. The 2 panels are made individually and then seamed together, leaving one side of the rectangle open. A pillow form is inserted, and the last side is stitched up.
THE YARN
For this pillow, I used #4 worsted weight yarn. I chose I Love this Yarn from Hobby Lobby in the colors “white”, “black”, “desert glaze”, and “burnt pumpkin”. Fitting that the color is called “burnt pumpkin”, huh? I didn’t realize that until after I had chosen the color.
I have found that “I Love this Yarn” is a big thicker than most weight 4 yarns, so make sure you check the gauge if you use a substitute yarn.

DIFFICULTY
This pillow is considered an intermediate pattern because of the colors. The trickiest part is the pumpkin when you have the deeper orange color to manage as well. If that intimidates you, just choose one orange color instead. That would simplify the pattern to experienced beginner.
I did intarsia crochet for the pumpkin portion, but I did carry the black throughout the two wording sections. It was easier for me to do that and meant less ends to weave in.
If you would like a tip showing how to hide the colors when carrying them behind the yarn in use, check out this video tutorial I did! It hides the show-through very well!
And if you are unsure why I “yarn under” when doing tapestry or intarsia crochet, check out this blog post here!
