DESCRIPTION

YARN
The yarn used for the Cozy Collared Vest is Lion Brand Yarn Feels Like Sherpa yarn.
Feels Like Sherpa yarn is a bulky weight 5 yarn that mimics the feel of sherpa fabric, making it the perfect yarn for a vest.
It is 92% acrylic and 8% polyester yarn and there’s 68 yards/63 meters per 3.5 oz/100 grams.
The yarn is machine washable and lay flat to dry, so it is an easy-to-care for vest.
There are 14 colors in Feels Like Sherpa, and I’m hoping they will add more soon.
I used the color “Antique” for this vest, but I think “Evergreen” and “Sagebrush” are such pretty colors that would look great for this pattern if you are looking for some color.
I made a sister knit pattern for this vest called the Cozy Teddy Vest, and I used the color “Heather Grey” for it. I think it turned out so cute also!

DIFFICULTY
The Cozy Collared Vest is considered a Level 2 – Easy pattern.
Usually yarns that are textured like Feels Like Sherpa yarn need to rank “harder” because it is more challenging to work with the yarn.
I do not think that’s the case with Feels Like Sherpa yarn. The yarn is not difficult to crochet with, and it isn’t so textured that you cannot see your stitches.
Another huge bonus is that this yarn isn’t hard to frog like some textured yarns are.
While designing this pattern, I frogged the yarn a few times, and it easily came out instead of snagging on itself like some textured yarn likes to do.
The stitches used for this pattern are beginner stitches with single crochet being used for the majority of the pattern.

Is this pattern good for beginners?
While the Cozy Collared Vest is rated easy, I would recommend having a little prior crochet experience before diving in, so it may not be the best fit for someone who has never picked up a hook before.
That said, if you’re fairly new to crochet and feeling adventurous, don’t let that discourage you! The premium PDF includes 7 picture aids throughout the pattern to help guide you step by step, making the Cozy Collared Vest much more approachable for those still building their skills.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes, but the gauge of the vest may be affected, so do a gauge swatch so you can meet gauge.

I am making your pattern cozy collard vest, and I followed the instructions for 3x. So far the design creates a cropped sweater.
I have really enjoyed making this so far. My question is, if I want to make it again, but longer, would i just crochet as many rows until desired length before starting the sc2tog stitches?
