The Brickstreet Cardigan is a cozy knit piece featuring a V-neck and drop-shoulder design. Its brick-like stitch pattern enhances the vibrant hues of Scarfie Lite yarn, making it perfect for lounging around the house or a night out. The cardigan is worked flat in 3 pieces, seamed together for stability, and the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round.
Remember last Spring when I released the Brickstreet Throw?
So many of you asked for a cardigan version of it, so here it is!
The Brickstreet Cardigan!
You know when you find that perfect cardigan that you can easily throw on when you’re cold in the house?
The Brickstreet Cardigan is that for me! It is so comfortable, cozy, and keeps me warm!

And isn’t the stitch pattern fun? I love how well the stitch pattern plays with the Scarfie Lite yarn!
The drape on the cardigan is so cozy, and I love that it is long enough that it can cover my bum!

If you are wanting the throw version of the Brickstreet Cardigan, you can get it HERE!

DESCRIPTION
The Brickstreet Cardigan is a beginner+ knit pattern that includes directions to make 9 sizes (xs, s, m, l, xl, 2x, 3x, 4x, and 5x).
The design has a positive ease of 5.25-7 inches, so it’s perfect for layering and keeping you warm!

The piece is worked in three panels: the back, front left, and. front right.
The pieces are seamed together, and then stitches are picked up to work the sleeves and neckband.

I used circular needles throughout, but you can use straight needles if you are more comfortable with that.
YARN
The Brickstreet Cardigan is made using Scarfie Lite Yarn in the colorway “Tartan”.
This yarn is so fun to work with because the pops of color are so pretty!

The vibrant blue with the pretty pinks and red are just stunning, and I love how well it works with the stitch pattern.
Scarfie Lite yarn is made of 43% acrylic, 41% polyester, 9% nylon, and 7% wool.
It has a “mohair like” quality about it, and has a beautiful halo!
When blocked, the stitches really relax and grow wider. So be sure to measure the gauge after you’ve blocked it.
I used 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7) balls of yarn or 1260 (1315, 1435, 1550, 1660, 1850, 1965, 2040, 2135) yds for the 9 sizes.

DIFFICULTY
The Brickstreet Cardigan is considered a Beginner+ or Easy knit pattern.
Knit, purl, and slipped stitches are used, with a 1×1 ribbing (knit 1, purl 1, repeat) is used for the bottom edging, the neckband, and the sleeve cuffs.
Minimal shaping is used, so it is a relaxing make once you get the hang of the stitch pattern.
I have a video that shows how to do the Brick stitch pattern.
You can view that HERE or watch it below.
So let’s begin!

NOTES
- Pattern is written for 9 sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X). Highlight your size throughout the pattern for less confusion.
- Model is 5’7” and is wearing size medium with a 38” bust and 5.25” positive ease.
- The stitch pattern is a 12-row repeat, so if you want to add or subtract length, add or subtract 12 rows at a time.
- If you want to add width, the pattern is a multiple of 6+1.
- It is a drop shoulder, v neck that buttons in the front.
- The yarn grows when blocked, so measure accordingly. Make sure you block your swatch for accurate gauge measurements.

You can see in the above picture what the piece looked like before blocking and then how much it grew after blocking in the picture below.

- The cardigan is worked in 3 separate pieces and seamed together for stability: Back, Front Left, and Front Right.
- Left Panel and Right Panel refers to when cardigan is worn.
- Cardigan is worked from the bottom up with shaping around the armholes and neck.
- Stitches for the Neckband are picked up and worked in rows.
- Stitches for the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round.

SEAMING
Block pieces.
With RS facing out, using Mattress Stitch, seam the top of the Left Panel BO edge to the Back Panel BO edge. There will be a gap for your neck.
Seam the Main Body from the Back Panel to the Main Body of the Left Panel to the Armhole Shaping section.
Rep for the Right Panel.

NECKBAND
Using size 7/4.5 mm needles
With RS facing, beginning at lower right front edge and working clockwise, pick up a total of 364 (362, 366, 372, 372, 406, 408, 408, 414) sts along neck edge, ending at lower left front edge. Pick up about 2 sts for every 3 vertical rows [98 (98, 98, 100, 100, 106, 106, 100, 100) sts on both sides to armhole], 3 sts for every 4 diagonal rows for the V-neck [54 (40, 50, 50, 50, 64, 68, 50, 60) sts on both sides], 2 sts for every 3 vertical rows [8 (20, 12, 12, 12, 8, 4, 28, 20) sts for remaining rows to shoulder], 3 sts for every 4 rows on diagonal neck shaping (6 sts on both sides), and 1 st for every bind-off st along the back neck [32 (34, 34, 36, 36, 38, 40, 40, 42)].
Rows 1-11: *k1, p1, rep from *
BO in rib pattern.

For the sleeves, we will be using a regular brick stitch chart like we did for the panels, but then we will decrease at different rates for different sizes, so follow the charts indicated in the sections.
The XS/S has an extra chart because it doesn’t need to decrease in circumference as much as the other sizes, so it works a regular brick street pattern with no decreases for a bit.
The sizes XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, and 5X have a double decrease chart that you’ll need to follow because those sizes have the most stitches that need to decrease to get to the right wrist circumference.
Follow all the charts and text to get the right stitch counts.
SLEEVES
Using size 8/5.0 mm DPNs (or use long circulars and the magic loop)
Pick up 87 (87, 99, 99, 105, 111, 111, 117, 117) around armhole. Counts as first rnd, join and place marker to indicate start of rnd.
