Absolute Beginner Crochet – Beginner Smiley Face Coaster

I am loving color lately, and these Smiley Face Coasters are bursting with color, and I am here for it!

DESCRIPTION

The Beginner Smiley Face Coaster takes a modern spin on a classic crochet pattern. The Smiley Face Coaster is great for a beginner, functional, and most importantly cute.

A full video tutorial is included (scroll to the bottom), so if you feel intimidated by the design, don’t!

The coaster is made using chains and single crochets in rows and then the smiley face is sewn on.

You can freehand the embroidered Smiley Face or I have a template you can use, which you can find in the written pattern.

THE YARN

For this crochet pattern, I used #4 worsted cotton yarn. I chose “Lily Sugar ‘n Cream” because of the durability and collection of colors available.

The colors I used in the pictures are “Hot Pink” “Tea Rose”, “Yellow”, and “Ecru”.

I would recommend sticking to a cotton yarn for these coasters. The cotton soaks up the condensation better than an acrylic will.

DIFFICULTY

This Smiley Face Coasters are a beginner crochet pattern with detailed explanations. It is considered an absolute beginner crochet pattern.

A full video tutorial is also included, so scroll down if you learn better with video.
